Swansea council finally announced a decision to give “Bellisimo” an SEV but then stated that as landlord of the property concerned running a strip club would be against the conditions of the lease and they would not consent to a change ! Good to see consistency there, another idiotic court case seems on the cards. Angels in Leicester won an appeal {and £5k costs} against part of the decision to refuse the club an SEV, the appeal against the rest will be heard in September. The 2nd part of the case rests on the club being in an “unsuitable location” opposite a new University sports centre so I’d expect a similar outcome, Angels has not been able to operate as a lap dancing club in the meantime so I’d also expect some sort of suit against the council for loss of earnings to follow.

ImagesThe new club “Images” the first in Hemel Hempstead {left} has been given a license. “I Candy” Accrington’s first club, which finally opened on May 26th after much local noise, was refused permission to advertise any job vacancies by the local job centre.

“Mist” in Hounslow has changed hands and applied for a new SEV under the new name of “Red Lips”. Grantham club Taboo can now open on Sunday. Spearmint Rhino’s flagship Tottenham Court Road club has applied for a 24 hour license. The “Dream Girls” club in Boston has also been granted extended hours.

Councillors in Cambridge have said that the license for the “Heaven Sent” club should be refused when it comes up for renewal in October.

Controversial back to work contractor A4e reportedly sent job seekers to work in Liverpool lap dancing bar X in the City it has emerged.

A first gay lap dancing bar {as yet unnamed} is set to open in Birmingham. The ETO show this year takes place at the NEC on June 24th and 25th.

It’s not only Object that talk nonsense on the subject of strip clubs, Inspector Drummond-Smith has stated that the license for “Kiss” in Newquay should be refused because of the level of sexual assaults last year {when the town had 1 part time club}. This contrasts rather with previous research when the town had several clubs which showed assaults had actually fallen. The council though ignored the facts and turned down the application.

Lada redstar The World Burlesque Games The World Burlesque Games were held in London at the beginning of the month ending with a final held at Madame Jojo’s on May 13th. The winner was Lada Redstart  from Germany. Burlesque performer Suzie Malone

Dancers from Leeds club “Wildcats” demonstrated against the new SEV laws the council are considering using which threaten their livelihood .
