January seems to be the month when last year’s problems catch up with various clubs ! Glasgow club “Legs and co” is in trouble with the tax authorities for under reporting girl’s fees. Consett club “ Red Velvet” has had it’s drinks license revoked following last months drugs raid, it’s given up it’s SEV and closed while it considers what to do next. Owner Sonny Gill who has several other nightlife venues in the town has said he may appeal. Meanwhile in Tamworth the owner of the “Players Lounge” which actually closed in 2011 Jo Anne Doyle was in court over a series of license breaches. “Private Eyes” in Aberdeen is in trouble over the late payment of license fees.
The long running legal dispute between messers Sartori and Reddy {former partners of the Rocket club in Birmingham whose dispute goes back several years} over a lucrative strip of land outside the club is also back in court.

The owners of the “After 8” club in Luton have applied to open a new club in Hemel Hempstead as mentioned last month but it’s emerged that another club was granted permission last year but has not yet opened. The “Krystals” chain which also has clubs in Lincoln and Chesterfield has just got an SEV for it’s Wakefield club.
Catford restaurant “Le Bourgeois” has got into trouble over a series of private strip shows called Thick Lick. Talking in this I hear “Club Lick” a long established swingers club in Walthamstow which used to have strip nights closed last year. Basingstoke has apparently adopted a “nil” policy for the town centre.
Some councillors are calling for a 12 club limit to clubs in central Birmingham , the current number is only 9 and even in the boom years it’s never had as many as 12 at once so the effect would be pretty minimal. “Shaylors” in Ampthill has applied for a 4am license. The former “Teazers” in Plymouth has been renamed “Angels” and now has a web site
Sheffield born Peter Stringfellow has threatened to stand against Nick Clegg in Sheffield as an Independent in the 2015 election.
It’s emerged that the Chaseley Trust care home in Eastbourne has been entertaining it’s patients by amongst other things organising strip shows . Sounds the ideal place to retire to !
