Several club opening attempts seem to have been abandoned as the new legislation starts to bite in on the industry. The attempt to open “Fire and Ice” in Ipswich as a lap dance venue {as reported last month} has been abandoned, and the ill starred “Diamonds and Pearls” club in Henley has offered to drop  strippers if it can stay as a conventional club, rather odd this as disorder is usually much worse at non strip nightclubs. The “Safire” club in Bridgend has also abandoned it’s attempts to start lap dancing and it also looks like the topless barmaid nights at the “Castle” pub in Dover will also have to stop.

The sham public consultation exercise being undertaken by Tower Hamlets council to justify a “nil” policy has started . It’s hoped that the clubs there can organise themselves as well as Hackney did a few months ago.

An application to open a new club called “Scarlet” at Horsefair, Birmingham has succeeded in getting an SEV license. I hear also that a first club in Accrington, Lancashire has applied to open and yet another in Borehamwood .
