The Hackney Road, London club Images re-opened

The Hackney Road, London club Images re-opened during the month after being shut for several months due to licensing problems. I understand that the former FYEO Mayfair now owned by David West is to be given the rather unusual name of “Puss in Boots” !

The annual “stripper of the year “ competition at the Night of the Senses ball was won by Canadian Imadoll { right , an expert on the pole like so many of her fellow countrywomen}who works at the White Horse Shoreditch amongst other places.
News of a new Promises strip pub “The West” in Warspite Rd, Woolwich which has started having girls on Thursdays. Loaded magazine is to again run it’s “ Showgirl of the year “ competition again in 2006, entries need to be in by October 17th. Last years competition had 100 girls from across the country including the likes of Maria of Browns {left}. Entries to be sent to the magazine.

The new licensing laws coming into effect in November have prompted clubs across the UK to request additional opening hours and some for other restrictions on methods of operation to be changed. Angel’s club in Great Yarmouth has applied for a licence allowing it to be opened between 10am and 6am, nearby

Teazers in Norwich and Club Florin in Colchester to 3am, and Spearmint Rhino’s flagship Tottenham Court Road club has also won a temporary 3am licence despite opposition from local residents. The US group’s Colnbrook club has also applied for an extended licence this time for the full 24 hours. Swindon’s Foxies club has got an extension to 6am Monday to Saturday and to 2am on Sunday.

Brighton’s 2 clubs Top Tottie and Pussycat took the opportunity to apply for a full nude {currently they are topless only} licence as well as for later opening hours. The late licence was granted but topless only remains the rule. A proposed 3rd Brighton club “ Club 52” had it’s application for lap dancing turned down but has said it will appeal. SR Colnbrook wants a 24 hour licence Councillor Laura Ross

Birmingham labour councillor Laura Ross caused something of a storm in the party after being photographed pole dancing in a PVC bikini. She had taken up pole dancing for fitness and has refused to stop simply to placate bigots in her party! Talking of bigot’s Scotland’s move back to “piano leg draping” continues with Edinburgh council lobbying the carefully selected committee set up to crack down on lap dancing clubs for even tighter regulations.

News of a new club set to open in Friar St, Reading to be called the “ Blue Rooms”. I have heard that the Honeypot pub in that town has licence problems in trying to get extended hours. I understand the Studio 3 night club in Bury St Edmonds had started having regular lap dancing nights. The first club in Cambridge Cellar Bar 8 has now got a licence for striptease though as I understand it the events will be irregular at least to start with. Work on Chester’s first club “ Platinum” has started and it hopes to open in November.

The plan to open a club in the former British Legion at Heywood, Greater Manchester has been abandoned, it’s to be a live music venue instead. Dreamers club in Liverpool has closed apparently after problems with the tax man!

The 3rd attempt to open a club in Newmarket has been turned down by the council, I don’t know if they intend to appeal. I hear that girls at Stilletto’s club in Leicester went on strike in protest at being forced to hand out leaflets for the club late at night in the town. The Venue Long Eaton’s {near Nottingham}only club is up for sale.

The first club in Morecombe mentioned a few months ago the old Oyster Bar renamed “The Office” is set to start pole dancing in November when the new licenses come into effect. The boom in West Midlands club openings looks set to continue with an application to open a club called Foxy Lady in Oxford St, Wolverhampton.

Promises pub the Wagon and Horses, Plumstead now has girls on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. News of a new Entertease jug collection venue called G’s in Market Sq, Bicester which has got approval to start in December, just Wednesdays and Saturdays to start with. A place called the Silver Sands Beach club in Heacham Norfolk, has got a licence to start lap dancing, although at present it’s only intended for 1 day a week and out of season.

A new web site called www.stripteaseuk.co.uk has emerged offering live on line strip shows. The spread of strip clubs has created it’s own specialists and a new one is Dominic Fowler of Fowler Penfolds who specialises in insurance cover for the adult industry. Contact him on [email protected]

A bit of Euro gossip I understand the Private Media Group {Europe’s largest producer of porn magazines and videos} is set to open a chain of clubs with experienced international business man Zyon Eyny in Europe, the USA, and Asia. The first is set for Bucharest, Romania in October and another in Barcelona in January/February. Further clubs are planned for Berlin, Paris, and London. They were one of the unsuccessful bidders for FYEO Mayfair so I know they are serious about the UK, they also have a web site www.pgclubs.com
