The old Rainbow agency is to be called “T’n’A” in future

I understand that the old Rainbow agency is to be called “T’n’A” in future and it no longer has any connection with the Rainbow Sports bar  which is now recruiting girls direct. The very long established strip pub the Foresters {right, scene of my personal first pub strip experience in 1976} in Southend has seen a change of agencies from Entertease to Starstrippers. I understand the pub’s web site is also to be enhanced

Talking of the Foresters I have produced an updated, illustrated version of “In the beginning there was Theresa”, my personal history of the London strip pub scene since my visit there in 1976. It covers pubs, agencies, regular punters, and some of the girls who have really made a lasting impression on me over the last 29 years. It’s a hefty $30 plus postage in printed form as it’s full colour but a download costs only $10.02.

“In the beginning there was Theresa” features some of my all time favourite London dancers of the last 29 years like Alex, Jacki Archer, and Roxanne

News of a new central London club to be called Rembrandts which is run by Frenchman Gerald Simi who bought Raymond’s Revue Bar in 1997 and ran it until it went into administration in 2004.

I understand from Peter Stringfellow that both the proposed new clubs mentioned in previous columns are now well underway. The Dublin club, which will be the first in that fair city to have a full nude licence, is scheduled to open in late November and Peter was over there during October doing media work including the “ Late Show”. The gaining of the first nude licence in Ireland is really as a direct consequence of the good reputation of the long established London operation. The new Soho club has been granted the first 4am licence in the West End and they are looking to open it in April.

East End club Metropolis now has a courtesy cab decked out in it’s colour which is creating something of a stir as it travels through London.

Talking of printed coverage the magazine “Pole Position” has not appeared again for several months though I understand it hopes to be in print again shortly once a new distribution deal has been negotiated. Also out of action at the moment is the very busy and useful Mypole message board.

Confusion in bigoted Nottingham where former private members club “Conrad’s” has finally been granted a public entertainment licence until 2.30am though it’s topless only despite the fact that nearby Senoritas is already full nude. Another club is set to open in Bar Humbug in Friar St, it has also just been given a full nude PEL under the new system after being turned down flat under the old licensing system. Also in Nottingham I understand the “ Desert Rose” private members bar has stopped having dancers though this may only be temporary.

Also closed down are FYEO Bradford { formerly Munroe’s} and High Society in Stockport, I understand both clubs are for sale.

Hatfield’s Bar Indigo { right} has had it attempt to gain a 24 hour licence turned down after Police objections based on them having to visit the club a massive 3 times in 3 years. It has retained a 2am licence though. Despite a full time club being turned down in Newmarket 3 times by the council the De Niro’s nightclub there has started having lap dancers every Friday night.

Unspotted by me last month the new FYEO Croydon branch { topless only}opened for business on September 29th. It was planned several years ago but got caught up in the various SFI problems. I understand also that Barrow’s first club Evolution has finally opened for business after trials and tribulations lasting most of the year. Chester’s first club the Platinum Lounge is scheduled to open on November 24th and now has a web site . Cambridge’s Cellar Bar 8 started lap dancing nights in October and currently is running 2 a month. West Bromwich club Angels also has a web site www.theangelsclub.com . Sheffield club Dancing Dollar is organising travelling roadshows featuring it’s girls.

Don’t forget if your going to the Erotica exhibition at Olympia on the 17th to the 20th of November look out for the Boobie sisters who have their own stand this year.
The “Miss Pole Dance “ world final is to be held in Holland on November 11th . UK winner Elena Gibson { left} is entered along with the winner from Australia but several other girls who did not even enter any of the qualifying rounds are in as well rather casting doubt on it’s claim to be a truly representative and fair multi national competition.

Talking of pole dancing it’s a sign of how mainstream it’s become that a Woman’s Institute in Wythit, North Yorkshire is now reportedly offering pole dancing lessons to go with flower arranging and the like ! Large Chippenham club Buds now features professional pole dancers every Saturday and an amateur contest every Friday night.

A new BBC series called “Funland” is coming soon featuring well known TV actresses Sara Smart{left} and Beth Cordingly { right} as lap dancers. Aparently Smart’s husband loses his money gambling and she takes to stripping to pay the bills.

Another pub in Wiltshire called the Moonrakers Inn in Pwesey has been having regular pole dancing nights for over a year now.
The opening of the new Dublin branch of Ab Fab’s favourite store Harvey Nichols early in October featured US burlesque star Dita von Tease doing a striptease in the window in her famous giant champagne glass.
