Rembrandt’s stopped from opening as a full nude lap dancing venue

Gerard Simi’s plush new club “Rembrandt’s” which was stopped from opening as a full nude lap dancing venue by an unholy alliance of Livingstone, Southwark Cathedral, and Network Rail is operating now as a piano bar with regular burlesque nights  . In a reverse of recent trends Peter Stringfellow’s new Soho club is dropping lap dancing on Friday and Saturday nights to create a new very upmarket conventional club called “The Wardour”.The Ladhar group {parent company for FYEO} has just bought a further 28 bars nationwide off the administrator of a failed pub company called Definitive.
Model and top London dancer Sabrina  a regular at the White Horse, Shoreditch amongst other places now has a web site . Sabrina also appears at the White Horse , High Wycombe which as of the 14th of April is opening a separate upstairs bar called “Bar 95” with strip shows Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings to add to it’s long established lunchtime and Wednesday evening shows downstairs.
Talking of the White Horse, Shoreditch they have decided to stay open on Sunday 1 to 5pm as well as all day Saturday. I understand that the long established strip pub the “California” in North Woolwich { left} will be closing in the next few months for redevelopment though the current landlord has another nearby pub lined up to continue the stripping in. Problems at the Queen Anne when an undercover policeman from the new serious crimes unit called Dominic Headley was fined £750 after causing trouble there one night. The Waggon and Horses pub now has a web site as has the Flags www.theflags.co.uk .The art deco Troxy Cinema in Commercial Rd, Stepney has applied to the council to convert into a late night club with adult entertainment.

The rapid expansion of “Wildcats” chain continued with March seeing the opening of the Barnsley and Huddersfield clubs and the acquisition of the former “Velvet Lounge” in Bristol. The Leeds club is now expected to open in June and several further clubs in places like Birmingham are rumoured. Also still expanding are the Blue Box group who have applied to open their 6th club in the former Bar Med in Princess St, Manchester. They also plan to open their first overseas club in Prague in June. I also understand that Max Makrinakis who I interviewed last year has now left the company.

The “Cave” in Chichester is appealing the council’s refusal of a license, no doubt they will win after the usual legal waste of money. A fight which started in “X in the city” in Liverpool but ended up in the street nearby resulted in 3 stabbings. The “Angels” club in West Bromwich now has a new websitewww.theangelsclub.com . It’s emerged that Spearmint Rhino’s club in Bournemouth {which opened in 2002} has not got the right planning permission and has had to apply for it retrospectively. The 2007 ETO show for the UK adult industry is to be held at the NEC on the 22nd and 23rd of July see www.etoshow.com . There is a new web site for dancers to put profiles on  though not much on there yet!
