Greater Manchester has a population of 2.5m making it the largest commercial centre in the north of England. Historically it was the centre of the world cotton industry though these days it’s probably most famous as the home of Coronation St and Manchester United. It’s always had a very lively nightlife and at one time places like the Hacienda and bands like New Order and Oasis dominated the UK scene. In terms of the growth of table dancing though Manchester has been one of the most backward places in the UK, until very recently there were just 2 topless bars both of which had to close at 11pm

The hostility of the council stopped people like Spearmint Rhino and Stringfellow’s coming several years ago but recent changes have seen some new full nude clubs opening up and the newest and plushest is Obsessions which opened on December 1st 2006. The club is based in the newly redeveloped trendy area of Deansgate lock right in the centre of town and aims at an up market clientele.
It offers topless stage shows and topless and full nude private dances together with the usual top of the range facilities like a members only VIP area. It’s now open until 4am 6 days a week after successfully applying for an extension early in the new year.
