Tania Amazon DJ appearances

Former strip magazine coverdancer Tania Amazon now has a web site covering her DJ appearances with several dates booked for the next month .

The “Piano Lounge” in Twickenham has had it’s application for an SEV license turned down by the council after numerous problems over the years. I understand no appeal will be made so the club has closed for good and looks like it’s got the dubious honour of being the first actual victim of the 2009 act, though in truth it’s problems with the council predated the new act.
Lounge@30Bristol has granted SEVs to Central Chambers, Urban Tiger, and Temptations but not to Lounge@30 {right} as it was regarded as badly managed, I don’t know if there will be an appeal there. Carlisle has granted an SEV to Rouge the only club in the town.

In Newcastle it appears all the clubs plus at least 3 of the pubs which hold strip sessions for Newcastle United home games are to be granted licenses. It will be interesting to see if having gone to the trouble of getting an expensive SEV license the pubs start to have more sessions through the year. In Islington the council has given the “Grand Central” gay bar a demand for £14k for it’s SEV as it hosts fetish nights etc which fall under the all encompassing defintion of the new act.

Wellingborough with “nil” clubs has announced a “nil” policy, as with some London boroughs this is being trumpeted as some sort of triumph for the 2009 act but in reality as there was no club there to challenge this  anyway it is in reality pretty meaningless.

Academy nightclub in StourbridgeDespite the act a number of new applications to open a lap dancing club across the country have been made, the lap dance club within the Academy nightclub in Stourbridge {left} has been approved as has one to start a club called Tenshi in Rochester which is presumably connected to the club of the same name at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet . Other new applications are for “Bellissima” which has applied to open in the spring in Swansea and “Amara” in Leamington . A new club to me that is actually already open is the “Mambo Lounge” in Guildford. The “Stir” bar in Epsom has been granted a 3am license despite a blanket police objection to late night openings in the town. The “Embassy” club in Cheltenham has applied for an SEV as the only full time club in the area the “Blue Rooms” has shut and it wants to offer strippers during the National Hunt Festival there. I understand the “Bedford Arms” in Hitchin has restarted strip sessions.

Veteran soap opera Coronation Street apparently is to feature a storyline where long time villain Terry Duckworth opens a lap dancing club, can’t see it being a very positive set up ! A night involving 2 male strippers raised £1,560 for the Clavering Primary School in Essex but caused some controversy amongst some parents. The ex owners of the ill fated “Diamonds and Pearl’s” in Henley {now a gym apparently} have been fined again this time due to a lack of a PRS license.

The Scores/Baby Platinum club in Sheffield has changed hands and been renamed “Villa Mercedes”, and the Krystals group with clubs in Lincoln and Sheffield has reopened the old Wildcats in Wakefield.

The venerable White Horse in High Wycombe has a new web site www.bar95.co.uk .
