Strip clubs in Scandinavia: a visitor’s guide to Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm

Three Nordic cities, three very different pictures. Oslo has a compact, well-regulated showbar scene; Stockholm has a handful of venues that work under some of Europe’s strictest rules; and Bergen, once home to a well-known club, currently has none. Here is what a visitor can actually expect in 2026, based on the clubs’ own websites and our listings at StripClubGuide.

The ground rules: how Scandinavia differs

Anyone used to the American or British club model should reset expectations before landing. Norway and Sweden both treat adult entertainment as a licensed, closely watched business. Sweden made the purchase of sexual services a criminal offence on 1 January 1999, according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå), and Norway followed with its own law in 2009, as Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK) notes. Inside the clubs, that translates into a simple message: you are paying for shows, dancing and company, nothing more.

In Oslo, the clubs run a no-contact policy on the floor and in private rooms, and alcohol hours are enforced to the minute, as our Oslo strip club guide explains. Prices are high, as they are for everything else in Scandinavia, and the pricing logic is different too. Most Norwegian venues use the champagne system, where drinks and private time are priced together, and stage shows are included in the evening.

Oslo: four venues within walking distance

Oslo is where the Norwegian market now sits. Our Oslo guide lists four clubs operating in the city centre, all close enough to each other to compare on foot. Several older names, including Nightlife Bar and Paradise Showbar, have closed and should be ignored if they turn up on out-of-date review sites.

String Showbar

String Showbar has been part of Oslo nightlife since 1998. It sits at Skippergata 21 and is open every night from 20:00 to 03:00, according to the club’s website, string.no. Entry is for guests aged 20 and over with valid ID, regardless of gender. The club lists stage shows, private VIP rooms with their own sound systems, karaoke, a full bar and food, and new dancers from across Europe each week. In 2017 it was named Best International Club of the Year at an awards event in Las Vegas.

Lotus Showbar

Lotus Showbar is at Dronningens gate 17, just off Karl Johans gate, and is open from 21:00 to 03:00 every night, according to its own website. It has a main stage and a private VIP salon with champagne service, runs themed nights, and recommends booking ahead.

Blaze

Blaze is a go-go bar rather than a full showbar, with a more casual feel and an in-house DJ. Its listing describes it as dating from the early 1990s, a short walk from Karl Johans gate. One practical warning from our Oslo guide: Blaze opens Tuesday to Saturday, so a Sunday or Monday visit will find the door shut.

Diamond Showbar

The newcomer. Diamond Showbar, at Tordenskiolds gate 11, opened at the end of 2025, according to our Oslo guide. It is too new to have much of a track record yet, and we do not have a full directory listing for it.

Bergen: no club, for now

Visitors searching for a strip club in Bergen will be disappointed. The city no longer has one. After Dark, which for years was western Norway’s only gentlemen’s club, has closed, and we have updated our 2016 feature on the club to reflect that. Our Bergen page explains the background: a small market built partly on offshore oil and gas traffic, and licensing conditions that kept nudity and alcohol service apart.

The nearest open venues are in Oslo, about 50 minutes away by air or roughly seven hours by train on the Bergen Line. Many listings elsewhere on the web still show Bergen venues as open. They are not.

Stockholm: a smaller, stricter scene

Stockholm’s scene is quieter than Oslo’s, and the format varies more from club to club. Our Stockholm guide lists four venues. What we know about each comes from the venues’ own descriptions in our directory:

  • Club Harem is in central Stockholm and advertises non-stop striptease and a bar every night.
  • Club Prive describes itself as the city’s most exclusive strip club.
  • Heart Beat says it is run by a group of experienced female dancers. It is known for fixed prices on private entertainment and lists a bar, private rooms and a stage show twice an hour.
  • Club Kino has been at Döbelnsgatan 4 since 1989, according to its listing, which mentions ten themed VIP rooms and late opening. One caveat: when we checked this week, the club’s old web address forwarded to a venue called Velvet Room at the same street address, which describes itself as a nightclub with burlesque, cabaret and acrobatic shows, open daily from 20:00 to 05:00. We have not been able to confirm whether this is a rebrand, so check before you go.

Expect Stockholm to be expensive, and expect the house rules to be explained to you at the door. Swedish venues prohibit touching, both in private shows and on the floor.

Practical tips for a Nordic club night

  • Bring ID. Age limits are enforced. At String Showbar, for example, the minimum age is 20.
  • Ask about prices first. Every reputable club will tell you what a drink, a bottle or private time costs before you commit. Our Oslo guide has a worked example of what a night out costs.
  • Check the opening days. Not every venue opens seven nights a week.
  • Cards are fine. Norway and Sweden are close to cashless.
  • Arrive sober. Doors get stricter after midnight, and turning up drunk is the quickest way to be refused.

For dancers, Norway has a strong reputation as one of Europe’s better-earning markets, and the Oslo clubs recruit from across the continent. Current openings are listed on StripRecruit’s Norway page, and our guide to house fees, commission and contracts covers what to check before signing anywhere.
