In memory off Tyke!

We are sad to announce that our long time writer off the London Gossip and big contributer to Strip-magazine; Tyke, is dead! Tyke had alot of knowledge about UK Striptease industry and he will be deeply misssed. This is the last London Gossip that he wrote just before he died.

In memory off Tyke

A correction to last month’s gossip, it appears the “Cornucopia” pub in Southend  has actually now got a new license and dancing restarted late in May.

It seems that Shane Manning the manager of the newly licensed “Hush” club in Inverness works for the council during the daytime as a Traffic Support Official which I imagine is PC for Traffic Warden ! This made the papers though what relevance it has to the granting of the actual license is not clear.

Channel 4 have made a documentary on the “Dreamboys” male strip troupe.

Some Soho sex shops have won a case against the amount Westminster council charge for an SEV, this could have very positive implications for lap dancing clubs across the country although Westminster ‘s are amongst the most expensive licenses in the UK.

The long awaited survey on SEVs in Nottingham received 1,300 responses 70% of whom rejected the “nil option” as proposed by the council. The council have declared this as “inconclusive” but I suspect attempts to close the existing clubs and sex shops will be quietly dropped.

Apparently a 10th club is to open in Liverpool {already the UK’s lap dancing capital !} in the Cook street area.

Both the “Harp” pub in East Peckham and the “Manhattan “ club in Crewe have been refused new SEV licenses. Another club in trouble with licenses is “Divas” in Plymouth.

The “Tenshi” club at the Rochester Casino rooms finally opened on June 1st over a year after it got it’s license. As I understand it they still intend to open a 2nd club in the town and have set up an on line petition to support this.

Photographer and film maker Bronwin Parker-Rhodes has a web site which includes photos of several well known Shoreditch strippers off duty www.bronfilms.com .

A pub called the “Great Northern” in Keighley is apparently considering introducing strip shows. Leeds licensing department seem to think that the renaming of the “Black Diamond” club to “Tantric Blue” will in itself corrupt local youngsters in some bizarre way !
