FYEO Croydon is to be re-branded as a Hustler club

The large US chain DeJaVu has acquired it’s first club in the UK the former FYEO Croydon which is to be re-branded as a Hustler club and re-launched late in the summer. Get contact info and location on the Hustler Club here: https://stripclubguide.com/place/hustler-club-croydon/

It’s understood that the chain are still looking for a central London venue and are talking to the Windmill and other clubs. FYEO itself is still on the expansion trail elsewhere though with the Cardiff club actually opening on 28th of July and several more across the country in the pipeline. I have also heard rumours that a new operator may be re-opening the former FYEO Mayfair/Puss in Boots site soon.

The long awaited planning appeal for the opening of the Plaza club in Greenwich is to be heard in October. Apparently a lot of people buy tipping dollars in clubs don’t use all of them, in the latest Stringfellow accounts there is apparently a contingent liability of over £800k to cover this! The accounts themselves though look very healthy, the Evening Standard reports a £2.9m profit off sales of £5.2m. The Uxbridge pub Lord Hill has restarted striptease after stopping a few weeks ago though its Wednesday’s only so far. The Master’s Bar in Kenton, North London has started putting on strip shows on Sunday evening.
Quite a lot of activity out in Kent these days after a slow start in the strip boom with clubs now open in Ashford, Hastings, Canterbury, and Chatham plus 2 strip pubs { the Star right and Queen Charlotte} in Rochester, another 2 { the V Bar and Three Squirrels} in Maidstone, and yet another { The Harp} in Tonbridge. There are also regular male strip shows at Downtown Victoria’s in Maidstone.

The expansion of club numbers across the rest of the country has continued with a 5th club announced as due to open in Bournemouth called “Jumpin Jacks” in the Waterfront Complex. Also gaining a 5th club is central Manchester, it’s owned by the AEG group {Blue Leopard etc}, is to be called “Direktors” and follow the same up market style as the Leeds club of that name, it has won a full licence despite some local opposition, and is set to open later in the year. I understand also that the chain’s “Rude” club in Liverpool is going to be re-launched as a “Direktors” also in time for the “European City of Culture” in 2008.

The former “Velvet Lounge” in Bristol re-opened as a “Wildcat’s” in mid July and that chain’s new Leeds club {their 6th} is set to open on August 9th. Spearmint Rhino will open a club called “Rouge” in East St, Brighton in the Autumn having got a licence and sorted out the planning permission issues. It will be Spearmint’s 9th UK club and Brighton’s 4th with FYEO still planning to open a 5th club in the town in near future. Talking of Brighton I understand that the new club “Grace” is extending upstairs and also introducing an outdoor smoking terrace. A first club is to open in Mansfield in August in the upstairs of the “53 Degrees North” nightclub and a new club now has permission to open in a former furniture store in Melbourne St, Stalybridge near Manchester.

An application to convert the old billiard hall in the Parade, Leamington Spa to a pole dancing club has been made. Another application in the pipeline is to convert the former “The Loft” nightclub in North St into historic Durham’s first club.
The advert on the flight path to Gatwick mentioned in last month’s column turns out to have been a mocked up publicity stunt. A new regular weekly male strip venue called El Barrio has opened in Edinburgh .The Angels clubs  in the North East have a new web site

Bournemouth’s “Fantasy Palace” club is currently up for sale. A new play called “The naked truth” about 5 women in a Pole Dancing class is currently touring the UK.
