The Amazon fair mentioned in last month’s column has apparently been cancelled

There is a petition on the Prime Minister’s web site calling for a reduction in the regulation of UK striptease venues .The Amazon fair mentioned in last month’s column has apparently been cancelled. The White Horse Shoreditch London’s best pure strip pub is to open all day Saturday from March onwards but will now stay closed all day on Sunday. Details of times and dancers involved can be found on the web sitewww.thewhitehorsepub.biz .

Talking of the White Horse sad news that one of London’s most beautiful dancers Ellouise retired from stripping there at the end of February.

More information has emerged about the new FYEO in City Rd, Islington. The chain have already succeeded in getting a licence and the club is to be located in the basement of a new 400 bed Travelodge currently under construction. It’s not expected to open before the end of 2007 but at 18,000 sq ft it will be the largest club in London.

I know of several larger chains and a few independents looking to open clubs in Greater London during 2007 so there could be a 2nd boom of new clubs coming in the capital.

The semi finals for this year’s Erotic Awards are to be held on May 23rd at the Clapham Grand, the finals are scheduled for 1st September. An international search for Miss Brazil 2003 Taiza Thompson  who had been reported missing was called off when it emerged she had been working at Soho’s Sunset Strip club. The Manor club in Finsbury Park has got into trouble with the congenitally useless Hackney council over burlesque nights.

The rush of new clubs opening in ever smaller towns prompted by the changes in licensing is continuing though many established clubs are already complaining about a lack of trade. A first club in staid Southport has opened called “Dee J’s” in West St. The 2nd club in Bedford “Attica” was given a license at the end of January and expects to open before Easter.

A new club has opened in Stratford upon Avon called the “Caz bar” {seewww.cazbar.uk.com }, this is an all day Moroccan restaurant which provides a erotic cabaret { supplied by Cas Carrington of Medusa fame} after 9pm. Another new club which opened late in 2006 is the “Vault” in Grimsby and in nearby Cleethorpes an application to convert a place in Market St into that town’s first TD club has been made.

A club called “Crispin” in Kettering now has a license and expects to start lap dancing on Friday and Saturday nights during March. I understand “Bar Aqua” in Pontypridd has started striptease nights on Friday. An empty pub called “The Falcon” in Bishop Stortford is to be turned into that town’s first lap dancing venue.

The new “Tiffany’s” club in Quayside, Exeter mentioned last month is now scheduled to open early in March. The “Wildcats” chain is apparently opening it’s 7th club in Birmingham with an 8th to follow in Bristol, and has also revamped and re-launched the former “ Too hot to handle” in Blackpool as a “Wildcats” during February.

The rush of new clubs is particularly marked in Brighton where the 3rd club {and first full nude} called “Grace” opens in North St early in March. It’s highly likely that both existing clubs “Pussycat” and “Top Totty” will now go full nude. It’s known that both Spearmint and FYEO have clubs there in the pipeline and local newspapers are speculating that as many as 6 new clubs could open in the next few months.

The Dudley club “Bandit Queen“ now has a smart customised van which is causing something of a stir amongst the locals ! The application to open the “Cave” in Cirencester has apparently been turned down, no doubt there will eventually be a successful appeal. I hear also that “Bare Elegance” in Newcastle has had it’s application turned down by the council.

I understand that “Conrad’s” Nottingham’s long established private members club has closed down and also that the Q Bar in Borden has stopped having dancers. New Manchester club “Obsessions” now has a web sitewww.obsessionsclub.co.uk as has “Mirage” in Newquay . The owners of “Ziggy’s” the first club in York have stated that the lap dancing nights have been a big success, it has saved the club from closure, and they will probably extend the number of sessions per week.
Counterfeited products are known as a big problem in the Far East and we have all bought copy Rolex’s and the like from Thailand. This practise has now apparently spread to clubs where Pattaya now has a “Stringfellow’s” club which not only has nothing whatsoever to do with Peter Stringfellow but to add insult to injury also specialises in Thai lady boys !
