John Shayler owner of the “Junction 9” club just off the M1 has been granted a license to open another club in posh Ampthill in Bedfordshire despite considerable local opposition.

The much anticipated bonanza of the 2012 Olympics seems to have missed out the Shoreditch area but the venerable “Rainbow Sports Bar” has a new facade {left} in anticipation. A more successful effort seems to be the “Horns” in Old Street which has opened a separate upstairs roof terrace called the “Golden Bee” complete with massive flat screen TVs to watch the games.

The FYEO chain which has several clubs across the UK reported a loss of £263k off sales of £6.1m last year.

The Fantasy Palace strip club in Edinburgh has been granted a 3am license, the first strip venue to have a late license there since 2003, wonder if the other clubs will apply now. Talking of Edinburgh the “Sapphire Rooms” is hosting several events at this year’s comedy festival. Talking of Scotland 2 new clubs Silhouette and “Magma” have applied to open in Aberdeen , if successful that would make 8 clubs in the granite City. Shades of Leamington has finally been granted an SEV at the 3rd attempt so should reopen soon, the new club “Amari” which had already been granted a license is also set to open in September and is recruiting dancers. In Wimslow the town council has voted for a nil policy which would mean closing their only club, the “ST Lounge” which has had no complaints since it opened.

Annmarie HarrisLeeds MP Rachel Reeves won the “designer feminist of the year” award at the stripping the illusion blog. Having had a “public consultation” last year and decided to grant a maximum of 2 licenses {though it only has 1 club} Coventry council is having another consultation with a view to introducing a nil policy which if pushed through officials have warned that it could result in ratepayers funding an expensive judicial revue process.

Constantly arrested male stripper Stuart Kennedy of Aberdeen was found not guilty of imdecent exposure after stripping off for a hen night in a restaurant. It’s his 24th charge with no convictions and he is now apparently retiring !
