The new laws introduced by government are due to come on the 1st of April

The idiot new laws introduced by this wretched government are apparently due to come into force on the appropriate date of 1st April . The full impact will probably not be felt until license renewals start to come in later in the year but more and more local authorities like Manchester are talking about imposing quotas for the lap dancing bars as soon as the law allows.

Talking of Burlesque England’s superstar Immodesty Blaize {right} has produced a documentary called “ Burlesque Undressed” which hit the cinemas late in January.

The new striptease club called “ Forbidden” in Dewsbury near Leeds which opened just before Christmas now has a web site . On the other hand the plan to introduce lap dancing at the “Club Imperial” in the Seven Sisters Rd seems unusually to have got considerable support from broadminded locals fearing yet another pub closure. “ Secrets” Grantham’s first club opened early in January as forecast despite some opposition from locals.

The UK’s largest stripclub chain FYEO have permission to open a new club in Portsmouth in the former Mint Casino. Another unusually named stripclub has opened in South London, this one is called the “Ama Gi Lounge”  in Kingston and opens Thursday and Saturday. A stripclub called the “Broadway” in Uckfield Sussex has alarmed a local convent by starting up occasional striptease nights. The “ Fantasy” club in Swansea has applied for planning permission having already got a premises license. The “
Kings Arms” {left}in Sutton Coldfield has applied to add striptease to it’s options creating the usual local fuss.

The “Victoria” pub in staid Lytham St Anne created something of a stir with the locals by staging topless foam wrestling shows on Sunday afternoons. The “ Repent” club in Macclesfield mentioned in December’s column has had it’s license application turned down and the venue seems likely to close completely now. An attempt to start stripping at the “Vulcan Inn” in Merthyr Tydfill has been abandoned. I understand that the stripclub “New Ship” in Southend has closed in January for redevelopment. The De Burgh Arns in West Drayton mentioned in last month’s column has had it’s application refused.
The “ U Bar” Cannock’s only stripclub is up for sale. “Blue Minx” Rotherham’s only stripclub has been taken over by” Bohemia” of York and renamed.

Michael Welsh who used to own “Teazers” lap dancing club in Plymouth was convicted as part of a large scale drug smuggling ring in January.
The venerable “ Sunset Strip” in Soho is having a party on Wednesday 3rd of February to celebrate 50 years in business. Apparently Dane Bowers who was runner up in this year’s Celebrity Big Brother wants to open a strip club in Soho in 2010.
