10 minute bill calling for sex encounter licensing of all lapdancing clubs

The Labour MP for Durham called Roberta Blackman-Woods has introduced a 10 minute bill calling for “sex encounter” licensing of all lapdancing clubs. It has no chance of becoming law but deadbeat Licensing Minister Gerry Sutcliffe is using this “groundswell” as an excuse to consider a change to the law which might be introduced if Labour are not thrown out of office first.

He is asking for consultations, his e mail is [email protected]let him have your views. In any case despite what the Guardian and deadbeat MPs may say it is clearly possible to stop the opening of a club under the present law, Vimac Leisure’s attempt to open up the Loft in Ms Blackman-Wood’s constituency of Durham has just been turned down for a judicial review on the courts original decision to refuse a license. It’s still possible they may appeal yet again but it’s taken nearly a year so far.
A sports bar called the City Golf Bar in Bride Lane, Blackfriars has just got a license for nude dancing from lunchtime onwards every week day. I’m not sure what they are going to use this for yet but I think this may be the first place actually run regular events within the square mile itself. The Green Gate in Plaistow is now supplied by Starstrippers, the pubs 3rd agency in less than 6 months of operation. A pub called the Chevy Chase in Leytonstone rd, Stratford has applied to start striptease. The White Horse, Shoreditch has applied to open the upstairs former pool room bar for striptease.

The Tall Trees nightclub complex in Newquay which shut last year looks likely to be sold and re-open once again featuring a lap dance club. The first club in Exmouth mentioned in April’s column is to be called the Lush and is set to open on the 31st of July. Direktors in Manchester opened in the middle of June and I understand that AEG plan to open further branches using the same format in Chelmsford and Newcastle. The group though has sold the former Blue Leopard club in Leeds to the Purple Door group

.

A former nightclub called Shades has been converted into Teasers, Bridlington’s first lap dancing club which opened in June. The Rouge {Spearmint} club in Brighton now has a 5am license. Ziggy’s York’s first club is to start male striptease shows on Saturday nights aimed at hen parties. A first club called Shine in Bognor Regis has got a license to operate on 25 nights a year. A bar called Curve in Ipswich is set to introduce topless pole dancing in July.

Ex Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was widely reported to have visited the Blue Velvet FYEO group club in Newcastle while on his recent UK chat tour but I hear he also took in Spearmint’s clubs at Colnbrook and Spearmint Rhino Tottenham Court Road on other nights so he clearly remains an enthusiast for this style of entertainment. Talking of retired hard men the Angels club of Peterborough hosted an “Audience with” Dave Courtney, Carlton Leech, and Jason Mariner on May 30th.

The Knight Residence in Edinburgh has just been voted Europe’s top hotel, this exalted status may have something to do with the fact that it is situated in the middle of 3 lap dancing bars!
I understand former top London dancer and strip-magazine coverdancer Sabrina has become a top female bodybuilder in her native Czech Republic and is in the process of opening her own gym. Current London dancer Solitaire now has her own web site www.SolitaireLondon.co.uk .
