None of the sensible amendments about the new sex encounter bill have been accepted

It seems that, while none of the sensible amendments that have been suggested in the House of Lords about the new “sex encounter” bill have been accepted as yet, the Lords may yet have an impact on the final reading in October.

Several Lords have voiced misgivings about the idiot Smith’s legislation and a group of around 100 Burlesque performers took to the street in Camden to protest that council’s decision to require a “sex encounter” license if performances were to continue at the Proud Gallery. After the protest it seems that Camden council has backed down.
The Equity Union has also come out strongly against the “sex encounter” laws and is proposing a motion condemning this at the TUC congress in September.
New clubs are continuing to sprout up throughout the UK though if anything council opposition is increasing possibly in anticipation of the repressive new laws coming into force. A club called “Vogue” in Watford opened in the middle of August {right}, and a 3rd Watford club called “Gentleman’s Club 33” in Upton Street looks set to open in the near future. The “Chieftain Hotel” in Inverness now has a license for adult entertainment to cover stag and hen nights. “Cheetah’s” in Sheffield opened early in August and now has a web site. Hartlepool’s first club “The Kube” was granted a license at the end of August, and a new club in Kings Lynn called “Seventh Heaven” is scheduled to open during September. An interesting new venture is that the nightclub within the 5* Hilton Hotel in Woburn Place WC2 is recruiting both male and female strippers. Promises also have a new strip pub called the “Elephant and Castle” in Farnborough which opened in July.
On the other hand the “Spreadeagle” in Margaretting, Essex which only started strip in June has reportedly closed down completely after a fire and trouble with local criminals. The “White Hart” New Cross has also given up it’s short lived excursion in strip and gone back to being a conventional pub. The application to open the “Paradise Club” in Stoke has been put on hold by the council until a site visit and the long running license saga of the “Music Palace” in Crouch End seems set to restart in September. A decision to turn down a license for the “Clarkson Arms” in Wisbech is to result in yet another legal appeal. An application by the Reading Deaf Social club for striptease has also been turned down by the council there.

Dita von Tease is starring at the famous Casino de Paris review during September following in the footsteps of the likes of Josephine Baker.

Peter Stringfellow has reportedly turned down the next series of “I’m a Celebrity get me out of here”. The Chippendales male stripper troupe are appearing at the Edinburgh festival this year. The famous punk band the Stranglers are using the burlesque group the “Riot Girls” {right} as support act on some dates of their UK tour.
It’s emerged that an sexy all girl singing group called “ Kandy Rain” {left} on X factor came together when they all worked as dancers at the Secrets chain in London.
