Many more new clubs seem to be opening in London

Many more new clubs seem to be opening in London despite opposition from the likes of Livingstone and the Church. Peter Stringfellow’s very plush new “ Soho” club opens on June 1st

A club called Max 2 in Brixton {strip venues south of the river have traditionally been scarce} has now been given a licence to present striptease. In central London a new club called Volupte has opened in the legal district which seems like an old style dining and cabaret club and it regularly features burlesque style strip acts. Walthamstow swingers club Club Lick has started having regular lap dancing nights see .

Club Oops in Aldgate now looks likely to open in June and another club in Alie St called White’s Gentleman’s Club has emerged in the same street and also looks set to open soon. I hear on the grapevine that the venerable Windmill may be changing hands soon for a substantial price. The city based Platinum bar now boasts a restaurant as part of it’s package.

Ealing club Night Lovers has a web site  though not much on it. News of a new strip pub in Brentford called the Pottery Arms, just Thursday nights at present. As well as Chinese regime human rights record cheerleader Ken Livingstone and the religious loony Dean of Southwark Cathedral the Rembrandts club now also has opposition from local council leader Nick Stanton  whose face uncannily resembles a waxworks black death exhibit at the nearby London Dungeon. However with typical competence their appeal against the licence was ruled out of time by the Magistrates, another total waste of public money. Rembrandts is expected to open in June now.

I understand that Leighton Buzzard club “ Cube” has switched agencies from Entertease to Rainbow.
In Scotland the hand picked anti strip committee has reported to the Scottish parliament on the industry and {surprise, surprise} it is recommending repressing Scottish strip clubs. Proposals include no private or VIP rooms, CCTV everywhere, and a 3 foot gap between customers and girls. Whether this will go far enough for bigot’s like “ crackpot “ Coleman of Glasgow remains to be seen. Still in Scotland Hooters Bar in Edinburgh is running a “ Showgirl of the year” competition during June and July.

More Striporama Mondo club nights are scheduled in Nottingham and there is now a web site  with details. Shake and Swing ex dancer Sam Kirli’s pole dancing school has opened a 2nd branch at 269, West End Lane, West Hampstead  . The heats for this year’s Erotic Awards took place at the Clapham Grand on May 24th , entrants for this year’s “ stripper of the year” include Nikki a regular at Browns and former strip-magazine coverdancer. This years Miss Pole Dancer competition is starting at FYEO Croydon in June

New club openings are also continuing at quite a pace throughout England. A new club called Wiggle is opening in Bournemouth which features fine dining as well as striptease see www.wiggle-bar.co.uk and is scheduled to open late in June . Welcome news of a new Sheffield based organiser of regular private parties . The Newmarket club Heaven finally opened {after 3 years of council opposition} late in April and another new Promises venue is the Blue Room in High Wycombe which has started having dancers on Wednesday evenings only.

Yet another club has opened in the centre of Birmingham near Broad Street. This one is in the former Bobby Browns nightclub in Gas Street and is called Havana Florida Cuva. I also hear that another new club may be opening in Walsall, no details at present though. Nearby in Stoke a large new club called 007 opened  , I make that 3 in the town now.

Following quickly on from the opening of the KoKo lounge in Torquay a few months ago another club called Wisperz is set to open in that town. A new club is opening in Weston super Mare at the old Oasis snooker club. Morecombe’s Office finally started having pole dancing in April and now has applied to turn itself into a lap dancing club. Cambridge’s first club is now called “Talk of the Town “ and has a web site

Controversy still surrounds the new Dublin Stringfellow’s with a gay dancer saying only gay nights were keeping it going and that it was going to go bust. Peter Stringfellow himself has said he has been quite happy with progress in the club in the few months it has been open so far.
