Dispute between the owner of the Rocket club in Birmingham and x manager

Rocket club

The former “Wildcats” club in Huddersfield which closed a couple of years back is being auctioned off. A dispute between the owner of the Rocket club in Birmingham  Lawrence Reddy and the ex manager Allan Sartori over the ownership of a strip of pavement nearby {where a fast food van apparently  pays £1,200 a week in rent, there’s clearly gold in them thar burgers !} has hit court. The “Bohemia” club in York has been prosecuted for playing music without a PRS license. “Angels” club in Yarmouth is up for sale.

Watford council also want to ban all strip clubs from the centre of town and are having a sham consultation exercise to justify this. On the other hand it seems that reports that Leicester had decided to give only 3 licenses between the 5 clubs were premature and it seems more likely now that all 5 licenses will be granted after all albeit with a license fee of £6k. Coventry is to set it’s maximum at 4 clubs though there is only 1 there at present. Plymouth looks like granting licenses to it’s 3 clubs at £3,200 a year. “Whites” club reopened in July after the Police raid though given Tower Hamlets attitude to strip venues I suspect that this will not be long term.

ShadesIt seems the dubious honour of being the first club actually closed by the new legislation may be won by “Shades” {left}in Leamington which was refused an SEV by the local council and unless it appeals will have to shut on the 4th of October. “Shades” has had no problems with the Police or neighbours during it’s 3 years of operation but has just been deemed “unsuitable” to the town by various “high minded” councillors.

The management

The management at the “Thurst Lodge” in Oxford have been granted a new license at the former “Covern “ club and are set to open after a refurb though it’s only licensed after 11pm which will make it interesting to see how well it goes. The St Ebbe’s church next door to the old location is needless to say still objecting showing what a gang of liars they were on their original objection.

The former “Budha Bar” a celeb haunt that went bust in 2010 on the Victoria Embankment looks set to re-open as a lap dance club having been granted a license by Westminster council. The former “Venus “ club now renamed “City Burlesque” has a new web site.  The new FYEO outlet in Cardiff is to be called the “Playhouse Gentleman’s Club” and now has an alcohol license. A new club called “Rouge” has applied to open in Clifton Street, Blackpool despite the run down resort’s active anti strip policy.  A new Entertease strip pub called “The Wellington” has opened in Reading. A London dancer has started an excellent blog on her experiences in various London and other clubs, see www.sassylapdancer.com.

In yet another expensive flop in Glasgow council’s brain dead vendetta against strip venues the Platinum Lace strip club won it’s appeal against the arbitrary removal of it’s liquor license despite the lack of any problems with the Police. A new twist on Burlesque has started at the Classic Grand theatre again in Glasgow with a male version called “Summer holiday Boylesque revue” starting up, whether this is more to the taste of “crackpot” Coleman and the sash wearers on the council is not known.

Toilets of the Sunset Strip

In Edinburgh the “Sapphire Rooms” club is to become an official fringe venue in the famous Festival there in August with a display showing the history of striptease in the City.

The venerable Foresters strip pub in Southend {in operation for 40 years} is under threat again from a plan to redevelop the area, mind you this has happened half a dozen times in the past and nothing has ever come from it.
