report claiming that 66 legal lapdancing clubs in London were offering sex

Following on from last month´s Julie Bindel/Glasgow council nonsense a group called the Poppy Project has come up with a report claiming that 66 legal lapdancing clubs in London were offering sex for sale. In doing this column I try to be aware of all UK lap dancing clubs that are open and the current total in Greater London is less than half of that number and to claim that they are all offering sex is quite ridiculous.

Camden councillors who visit local lap dancing clubs have been threatened with ” outing ” by local bigots. Promises pub the Horse and Groom in Plumstead which closed due to insurance problems in June has started having strippers again.

Top girls like Dee Aston and Kerri Gold appear regularly at the White Horse and will do so more often in future

The White Horse, High Wycombe has changed hands as a pub and now has a web sitehttp://whitehorsedancers.moonfruit.com/ which gives an advance schedule of the dancers appearing which include many of the best in the London area including strip-magazine cover dancers like Niki and Amazon.

As reported last month the pub has now strippers every lunchtime except Sunday and on every other Sunday there is to be a special show with a door charge including a comedian and a male and female stripper. They are also to start having shows on Wednesday evenings which include topless pool games {surely another first for British entertainment !} which had previously been restricted to live music, check the web site for details.

The newly opened Bar Indigo in Hatfield has changed agents as Promises has pulled out because they felt that it was best suited to a jug strip pub style and handed the business over to Angel´s Exotic.

A brand new Birmingham club called Medusa run by Cas Carrington ex manager of Spearmint Rhino´s local clubs opened in Suffolk St early in September. That makes the 9th club currently open by my count in central Birmingham and the 12th in the West Midlands conurbation. It seems though that the proposed 2nd Legs 11 club in Broad street will not now go ahead.

The application to open the first club in Mansfield´s historic Handley Arcade was turned down after an idiotic intervention from Nottinghamshire Police {who are not letting a local gun crime epidemic stop them sticking their noses in to make nonsensical and inaccurate observations}.

The owner has said he will appeal so expect this one to open in a few months after a load of pointless legal expense. Ex soul singer Ricardo Patrick´s attempt to open Glasgow´s 5th lap dancing club Privilege was turned down by the planning committee of that benighted city late in August.

FYEO´s attempt to open a high class club in the basement of the Radisson Hotel has seemingly been scuppered by a local travel agent setting up a call centre there so it now seems that they will make their own application for a license for the would be Privilege club themselves in October.

An application for an as yet unnamed first club in the Prime Minister´s constituency of Sedgefield has just been made. News of a first club to be opened in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria to be called Evolution came in the month. Advertisements for jobs there were unusually carried by the local jobcentre and created a flood of applications. Building work is already underway and they hope to open by the end of October.

They are currently recruiting all types of staff, contact Joanne on 07952 439772 An application to open the first club in Peterborough at the old Faith nightspot was also made in September. Another new club as yet unnamed is scheduled to open in Basildon Essex within the next couple of months. While out in Cumbria it seems that a club called ” The Village” in Londsdale Street , Carlisle is to run pre football match strip shows on Saturday afternoon for the rest of this season.
The Barrow club has emerged out of the collapse of local serial nightclub owner Mark Hayes´s business, he had announced the intention to open his own club but this fell through leaving others out of pocket. One of the rush of new clubs in Plymouth reported in the column over the last few months now looks unlikely to go ahead after the owner Richard Webber was jailed for 12 years on drug offences, not sure which this one affects as yet.

I hear the 2 Gentleman´s clubs in Swansea and Newport have closed though I do understand that a new club of that chain will still open soon in Bristol. Long time Rainbow pub the Halfway House, High Wycombe has closed for renovation and it seems will no longer have girls on when it re-opens.
